
Fortunately, the writers' strike is over. This means there's an award ceremony to look forward to come January.
So the nominees were announced last week. Many were snubbed like "Grey's Anatomy". Many were also disappointed when "The Dark Knight" wasn't nominated for Best Picture. At the end of the announcement of nominees, among the hopeful "Dark Knight" men only the late actor, Heath Ledger was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for bring to life the man named, The Joker in the Batman saga.
Ledger is up against Tom Cruise and Robert Downer Jr. in "Tropic Thunder" (people laughed when Tom Cruise was mentioned), Ralph Fiennes in "The Duchess" and Philip Seymour Hoffman in "Doubt".
Five men are competing for the Best Actor - Drama award. Leonardo Dicaprio in a reunion movie with Kate Winslet in "Revolutionary Road", Frank Langella in "Frost/Nixon", Sean Penn in "Milk", Brad Pitt who is receiving Oscar buzz in "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" and Mickey Rourke in "The Wrestler".
Anne Hathaway, the former "Princes Diaries" star earns her first Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress - Drama in "Rachel Getting Married". Also nominated in the category are Angelina Jolie in Clint Eastwood's movie, "Changeling", Meryl Streep in "Doubt", Kristin Scott Thomas in "I've Loved you So Long" and Kate Winslet in "Revolutionary Road".
